NZ Strange Occurrences Society investigates former Fever Hospital

11:34 am on 4 January 2019

With its tongue-in-cheek humour, the TV mockumentary 'Wellington Paranormal' became an instant hit last year.

However, a real-life team of paranormal investigators, the New Zealand Strange Occurrences Society, has been checking out old homes, hotels, theatres and other spooky buildings since 2005.

The society's latest investigation was at Fever Hospital, which this year will be turning 100.

It was used in the early to mid 1900s to house infectious patients, but is now home to the Wellington SPCA.

The SPCA kindly opened up its doors to reporter Charlie Dreaver, videographer Ana Tovey and the Strange Occurrences Society to hold an investigation.

"The other guy I was with just suddenly bolted... So I ran after him as I reached for the door, the door slammed right infront of me. I reached for the door handle, pulled the door handle, the door handle came off" - Rob Wilson NZSOS member
