The Samoa government has given the green light to a daylight saving proposal to commence on the first Sunday of October next year until the last Sunday of March 2010.

The new change was finally approved this week in a Cabinet meeting based on a report by a government select committee.

The report says daylight saving in Samoa will have significant benefits to the country in promoting energy conservation; increasing opportunities for leisure; enhances public health and safety; and economic growth.
