Pyongyang stepped up its bellicose rhetoric this week, threatening to target waters off Guam with intermediate range missiles.

Mr Trump has said he would respond to any such action with "fire and fury".

Governor Torres said he had faith in President Trump to make appropriate decisions for the security and protection of the CNMI and neighbour Guam.

He said now was the time to rally behind the US commander-in-chief in order to protect proud citizens living in US territories.
