Shihad - Killjoy anniversary show: Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their second, and arguably most influential, album, the New Zealand rockers are set to perform Killjoy in its entirety at Auckland’s Powerstation on tomorrow night. Singles from the album include ‘You Again', ‘Bitter', ‘Gimme Gimme' and ‘Deb's Night Out'. The band are also releasing a remastered deluxe edition of the album with additional bonus tracks.

For those who can't wait for the show, check out this recording of Shihad playing the same album at the same venue in 2010.

Salute: Opening in Wellington on Friday is the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s Salute. Marking the centenary of the Gallipoli landings, the RNZB have collaborated with the New Zealand Army Band and a host of New Zealand composers and choreographers. With four shows at the St James Theatre, including a matinee on Saturday, the show will tour the country over the next month with shows in Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Auckland, and Napier.

PCP Eagles: This Auckland punk rock group are celebrating the release of their single The Ballad of Stuart Young, written in homage to their drummer. Bands Wizz Kids, Rackets, Shitripper and Dad Jokes will also join them on Saturday night at the Wammy Bar. Take a listen to their new track.

Sam Hunt: For those into poetry or who just want to see arguably New Zealand’s most well-known poet do his thing, Auckland’s Webb’s Auction House is hosting Sam Hunt in an afternoon of performance poetry.

Wellington Underground Film Festival: Fifty-four new films made by 36 filmmakers across 20 countries will be screening at the festival at Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision (The New Zealand Archive of Film, Television and Sound archive). The film festival is focused on presenting work outside of mainstream film production and distribution so prepare for some artsy stuff. Tickets available at the door. For the full programme go here.

Mick Harvey and The Intoxicated Men: Aussie veteran Mick Harvey is touring New Zealand with his band The Intoxicated Men. Carrying on around the country after hitting up Vector’s intimate venue The Tuning Fork last night, the former punk act The Birthday Party, and Bad Seed member is set to play Wellington’s Meow tonight, The Gallery in Christchurch and will finish up at the Chick’s Hotel in Dunedin on Saturday night.

Poltergeist: In cinemas today is this modern take on Steven Spielberg's and Tobe Hooper's 1982 horror film of the same name. Produced by Sam Raimi, the film looks set to follow the classic tale of a family haunted by evil forces. If the scares and popularity of the original is anything to go by, cinemas will be full of punters eager to see if the  remake stands up to the now over 30-year-old film.
