Commodity prices have risen, due to higher dairy and aluminium prices.

The ANZ Commodity Price Index jumped by 5.5 percent in September, the first rise in six months.

Dairy prices have broken a downward trend and have been rising at recent dairy auctions.

On the downside, beef, lamb and log prices declined last month.

The index is still 18.2 percent lower than September last year and 29 percent below a peak in February 2014.
