Man charged after presenting gun at police in Auckland

A man has been charged after he allegedly presented a firearm at police officers during a traffic stop in Auckland yesterday.

The incident happened on Victoria Street West in the city centre.

Police enquiries established that a pistol was involved and a taser device was also found in the car.

The 30 year old faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and using firearm against a law enforcement officer.

He's due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.

In a release, Inspector Gary Davey, Area Commander for Auckland City Central, said: "Thankfully our officers were not injured as a result of this incident and the matter was resolved without further incident."
