New Zealand's Minister of Finance says New Zealand needs to better understand the contribution of its Pacific community.

Treasury this week released its first ever report about the financial contribution of the Pacific community to the New Zealand economy.

It showed Pacific businesses and not-for-profit organisations have assets of $US5.59 billion, with Pacific households contributing $US7.28 billion annually to the New Zealand economy.

At the same time the Ministry of Pacific Peoples released the Lalanga Fou Report with a new vision for Pacific people in New Zealand.
