One of Papua New Guinea's more remote areas is to have its own technical trades training centre from today.
The Mora Mora Vocational Centre in Kimbe has been expanded and renamed the West New Britain Technical College.
The chair of the new college's board, Williamson Hosea, says they expect up to 300 students from around the country to study at the school from next year.
He says initially they will be teaching only a handful of subjects.
"The trades that will be taken on board will be the mechanical trades, the building trade, and the welding. As time goes on we will definitely take on the other trades, like plumbing."
