Man rescued from Mt Ruapehu

A man's been rescued from Mount Ruapehu after getting stuck at 2591 metres high.

He was climbing the slopes above the Turoa ski field this afternoon, when he got himself into a position he couldn't get out of.

He waved an orange tarpaulin as a rescue helicopter, with help from two Ruapehu Alpine rescue specialists, picked him up and moved him to safety.

The man was not hurt.
