About 700 guns and more than 2000 firearm parts were handed in yesterday at eight buybacks around the country.

The collections are for guns and parts outlawed after the Christchurch mosque attacks.
They also act as an amnesty for anyone wanting to dispose of firearms anonymously, with no questions asked.
Today, there are events in Auckland, Rotorua and Ruatoria, and in Richmond, Kaiapoi and Invercargill in the South Island.
Police do not know how many guns there are in the country, but so far a total of 21,000 firearms that are now restricted have been handed in, and 77,000 parts.
