Williams apologises for racist comment about Tiger

New Zealand veteran golf caddie Steve Williams has apologised for making a racist remark about former employer Tiger Woods.

Williams stunned guests at an awards ceremony in Shanghai with his comments but he's now apologised in a statement on his website.

He says he now realises how his comments could be construed as racist, that wasn't his intent and he sincerely apologises to Tiger and anyone else he's offended.

Williams had been a regular caddie for Woods since 1999 and helped the American to 13 majors before being fired in July.
