Te Awamutu water supply almost fixed

20:45 pm on 17 September 2011

Repairs to the watermain that supplies the Waikato town of Te Awamutu have been completed and officials were expecting running water to be restored by 10pm on Saturday.

The main had a major failure early on Saturday morning and water tankers were called in for the town's 12,000 residents.

The Waipa District Council says people should still conserve water until the supply is fully restored.

Tankers were brought in to supply water at four locations throughout Saturday.

Water supplies for other towns in the district were not affected.
