Taskforce to cut red tape unveiled

The nine members of a Government taskforce to cut red tape have been revealed and several members have long-standing connections to the National Party.

The Rules Reduction Taskforce will begin holding public meetings next month to hear suggestions on how to improve property rules and regulations.

The group will be co-chaired by National MP Jacqui Dean and chief executive of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Michael Barnett.

Other members include the former National MPs, John Carter and Tau Henare, Nelson Mayor, Rachel Reese, and the chief executive of the Property Council, Connal Townsend.
