Reports of gunshots in the Bower Ave area were made at about 3.25pm today.

A man with non-life-threatening injuries was found by police on arrival.

Police say officers attending the incident were armed as a precuation.

"We believe this to have been an isolated incident and do not believe there is any further risk to the public," Canterbury district commander, Superintendent John Price said.

Police are committed to finding those responsible and holding them to account, he said.

"Reducing incidents of gun violence is paramount for police and the community.

"We will not tolerate it - gun violence has no place here and threatens the fundamental right of the community to be safe and feel safe."

Police are yet to make any arrests.
