Flintoff injury looking better

05:56 am on 28 January 2009

The England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has had "encouraging results" from the scan on his side strain and is likely to be fit for the first cricket test against the West Indies next week.

The 31-year-old travelled from St Kitts to Jamaica yesterday for an MRI scan which revealed no major damage.

Flintoff, whose international comeback last year was delayed by a similar injury, will be monitored ahead of Friday's first-class fixture against West Indies A.

The first test of the four-match series begins at Sabina Park, Jamaica, next Thursday.
