Seventy percent of television coverage in the country is now provided through a digital signal.

The terrestrial digital project is billed as giving broadcasters a level playing field across the country.

In a statement, the Office of the Regulator said, "it also means that the level of competition is expected to foster quality programs and at appropriate costs".

The last phase of the project is expected to be online by early 2020, ensuring 100 percent coverage.
