Telecommunications company One NZ plans to buy Dense Air's New Zealand business, which will add spectrum and boost its 4G and 5G mobile service.
The deal will give One NZ management of 2x35MHz of 2600MHz spectrum, which had five-and-half-years left to run, with renewal due at the end of 2028.
"Think of it like adding an extra lane on the motorway," One NZ chief executive Jason Paris said.
"Back in July we retuned the network, leading to a 30 percent speed boost on 5G. Now we're making our mobile experience even better by making this spectrum available to our customers."
One NZ did not disclose what it will pay for the business, which was subject to regulatory and other conditions.
