New Zealand Under-20 team mates and 2011 Junior World Championship winners Sam Cane and Brodie Retallick have signed to play for the Chiefs in the 2012 and 2013 Super Rugby seasons.

Cane was short-listed with captain Luke Whitelock for the IRB's junior player of the year award.

He was called in as a replacement player from the Chiefs wider training group this season and has played on the side of the scrum for Bay of Plenty in the ITM Cup since last season.

Retallick is a 2.04 metre, 115-kilogramme lock and started in the World Championship final alongside Cane in Italy.
