NZ market ends day higher

The sharemarket has returned to the positives, with the benchmark NZX50 index closing up 18 points, or 0.5%, to 3287, on Wednesday.

Fletcher Building was 7 cents higher to $7.85, Telecom was up 1 cent at $2.70 and Contact Energy was down 3 cents at $5.19.

Sky City Entertainment closed up 5 cents at $3.49, Auckland International Airport was up 5 cents at $2.275, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare closed down 1 cent at $2.28.

The Warehouse was up 2 cents at $3.42 and Kathmandu was up 3 cents to $1.94.

NZ Oil & Gas remained unchanged at 62 cents after posting a loss.

Nuplex was up 10 cents to $2.59, Ryman Healthcare was up 4 cents to $2.59, Vector was up 5 cents to $2.44, Abano Healthcare was unchanged at $4.20 and Wakefield Health was up 22 cents to $5.22.

Mainfreight was down 19 cents to $9.60 and Xero was down 7 cents to $2.50.

At 5.20pm on Wednesday, the New Zealand dollar was at 82.94 US, 79.09 Australian cents, 50.3 pence, 63.6 yen and 0.5757 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 71.09.
