England wicketkeeper Matt Prior has agreed a deal to join the Sydney Thunder in Australia's Twenty20 Big Bash League.

Prior has been signed as a replacement for Shahid Afridi, who is due to join up with Pakistan midway through the six-week tournament which is contested from December 7 to January 19.

Prior will line up alongside Australia skipper Michael Clarke and West Indian batsman Chris Gayle who, like the 30-year-old, is set to arrive late for the tournament.

The Thunder, who finished bottom of the inaugural BBL last season, also announced New Zealand opener Martin Guptill as an overseas replacement until Gayle's arrival.
