16:50 pm on 9 September 2010

An attempt by the ACT Party to overturn the 2007 Child Discipline Bill has been overwhelmingly defeated by Parliament.

The member's bill was voted down on Wednesday night by 115 votes to five, with only ACT supporting it.

The bill sought to allow the use of reasonable force against children for the purposes of correction.

It also defined reasonable force.
