Two people have died after a crash in Northland at Umawera, north of Kaikohe.

Police said emergency services were called about the crash on State Highway 1 at about 5:40pm.
Only one vehicle was involved, and two people died at the scene.
The road was closed and drivers asked to use an alternative route, but shortly after 9pm one lane had reopened.
