Solomons Teachers union says Education Ministry threat irresponsible

08:30 am on 2 April 2013

The President of the Solomon Islands National Teachers Association says no amount of threat from the Ministry of Education will force his members to return to class today especially when there are pending issues for the government to address.

Samson Faisi made the statement yesterday in response to the recent threat from the Government for all teachers to resume classes by today or face disciplinary action.

SIBC says Mr Faisi said the threat is irresponsible and a sign of desperate attempts by the Minister and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education to save their job which is on the line.

He called on the government to return to the discussion table as threats will not force teachers to go back to class.
