New Zealand shot putter Valerie Adams has been named as one of three finalists for the world female athlete of the year.
Adams is up against Kenya's long distance runner Vivian Cheruiyot and Australian hurdler Sally Pearson for the award, which will be announced at the International Association of Athletics Federations awards in Monaco in a week.
Jamaican sprinters Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake are the men's nominees along with Kenyan middle distance runner David Rudisha.
