The Wellington City Council is set to fall well short of its target for building new homes.
The council signed a housing accord last year, which aimed to get 1000 new consents for dwellings and sections issued in the first year, and 1500 annually in the following four years.
But a report headed to the council this week shows that in the first six months, only 273 new consents have gone through.
Based on projections, that means only 75 percent of the first-year target will be reached.
The report goes to the Transport and Urban Development Committee on Thursday.
