There is confusion in French Polynesia over the strike at Tahiti's main hospital.
After a week of disruption, a deal was announced between the unions and the vice-president, Nuihau Laurey, that provided for some of the strikers to be given permanent contracts as they requested.
However, unions now say a strike notice is still in force and will become effective in two days as many of the grievances for the stoppage are still to be addressed.
