Ireland election: Main parties neck and neck

Ballots are being counted in the Irish general election with exit polls showing all three main parties neck and neck.

Fine Gael, the centre-right party led by prime minister Leo Varadkar is facing a strong challenge from its historical rival, the centrist Fianna Fail.

Both these stalwarts of Irish politics are losing votes to the left-wing Irish nationalists Sinn Féin.
