The organiser of the Canterbury A and P show says he thinks they are on their way to record crowd numbers for the 2013 show.
The show is in its 151st year and runs from Wednesday until Friday - Canterbury Anniversary Day.
Event organiser Geoff Bone says it started well, with great weather and large crowds.
He expects a head count on Wednesday night will show record numbers attending the first day.
The event is the largest A and P Show in New Zealand, often attracting up to 100,000 people over the three days, and close to 6000 livestock and feature competition entries.
