Eight women in Samoa charged with receiving money from prostitution

12:22 pm on 10 December 2009

Eight women appeared in court in Samoa yesterday charged with prostitution.

Prostitution is illegal in the country.

The defendants did not enter a plea to charges relating to prostitution because the police are still carrying out investigations.

Several local and expatriate men are alleged to be implicated as clients in the operation.

The case will be called again next week in the district court.
