The Telecommunications Users Association, or TUANZ, says there is little Telecom can do about a resurgence of spam email attacks on Xtra email accounts and most of the blame sits with its customers.

Telecom reviewed its parnership with Yahoo Xtra in February after almost 90-thousand customers came under a similar attack, with viral emails featuring a general link to a third party website circulating around.

Customers are being encouraged to change their passwords.

The chief executive of TUANZ, Paul Brislen, says spam cannot be stopped and most of the blame sits with customers who didn't change their passwords after the attack in February.
