One person has been killed and another person seriously injured in a crash on State Highway 1, east of Cambridge this morning.

It happened near the intersection with Hydro Road, north of Lake Karapiro.
Police say the road could be closed for some time and diversions are in place.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
