Former Tall Black elects trial by telephone

18:21 pm on 28 February 2011

The former Tall Black Phill Jones had told the Australian National Basketball League that he wants his head butting charge dealt with by telephone.

The Cairns Taipans guard had until 7 o'clock tonight to respond and say whether he wanted to appear before a tribunal or have the charge heard in a conference call.

Match officials reported Jones, saying the Cairns Taipans guard headbutted a Sydney player Ben Madgen during his team's 76-75 loss to the last-placed Kings on Friday night.

The case will be heard tomorrow with a finding expected by Wednesday.
