Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully says the thoughts of all New Zealanders are with the victims of the MH17 tragedy and their families on the first anniversary of the jetliner's crash in Ukraine.
The downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight by a missile cost 298 lives, including a New Zealand citizen and a New Zealand resident.
Mr McCully paid tribute to the New Zealand police who provided help with identification of victims at the crash site, and the repatriation of the bodies.
He said this country had also been at the forefront of calls for a thorough investigation into the incident.
