American Samoa governor, Togiola Tulafono, has addressed the opening of the Constitutional Convention attended by more than 100 delegates, who will decide on amendments to the constitution.
Togiola said the outcome of the convention in the next two weeks will be the guidance for the territory's future.
Togiola didn't address any of the specific proposed amendments saying that it is not his role or duty to direct the convention on how they are suppose to vote on the
various issues.
However, he says it's important that all delegates keeps in mind that their final decision is the roadmap for future generations.
Togiola said also said the convention does not include discussion of the territory's political status with the United States.
