Christchurch City Councillors are on track to receive a pay rise this year of 1.5 percent.
The recommendation from the independent Remuneration Authority, which also sets MPs' salaries, will be voted on at a full meeting of the council this week.
If it passes, councillors' pay will increase by $1400, to just over $100,000, and the mayor's salary will rise by just under $3000 to $187,000.
The increases come at the same time as a council proposal to increase rates by 5 percent this year.
