Guam and CNMI strengthen relationship

The Northern Marianas and Guam have signed an agreement calling for stronger links between the two United States territories.

The draft agreement says both governments "commit to working in good faith in areas of regional policy, joint-resource utilisation, toward the development of economic linkages and community outreach."

In addition to continuing partnerships in times of natural disaster, the agreement enables the territories to create a CNMI liaison and medical referral office in Guam's capital, Adelup, with a point of contact assigned to facilitate open communication between the two governments.

The CNMI and Guam share a common culture, history, and future, as both are at the forefront of the America's defense pivot toward Asia.
