A youthful New Zealand women's golf team is hoping that home course advantage will convert to results in the Queen Sirikit Cup tournament that starts in Hamilton tomorrow.

New Zealand is one of 13 nations competing in the Asia Pacific teams championship at Hamilton Golf Club.

The tournament is a 54 hole strokeplay competition with the two best of three scores counting each day.

New Zealand won the tournament when it last hosted the event in 1999 at the Paraparaumu Beach course, near Wellington.

New Zealand's fielding its youngest combination led by Bay of Plenty's Zoe Brake who's 18, along with debutantes Cecilia Cho, who's 15 and 12-year old Lydia Ko.

High performance director Simon Poll is confident age won't be a problem though, saying they are the country's best players and are all in good form going into the event.

The Queen Sirikit Cup has been dominated by Asian teams in the past decade, with Korea winning five of the last seven encounters.
