The woman arrived in the country on Sunday, on a flight from Brazil via Chile.

Customs said X-rays showed inconsistencies in her luggage and, after drilling into the bags, officers found more than 4.6kg of cocaine with a potential street value of $3.2 million.

Investigations manager Bruce Berry said intelligence had identified the woman as a high-risk passenger.

The 29-year-old woman is due to appear in the Manukau District Court on Friday.
