Change could mean quicker fast post

New Zealand Post is proposing another change in deliveries that would mean some customers get their mail a little earlier than before.

It's looking at allowing regular posties to deliver fast-post or priority items on Saturdays and Mondays instead of dedicated priority posties.

Households whose regular mail delivery is on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays would then get priority mail on a Saturday, instead of on the following Monday as happens at present.

New Zealand Post says the change is unlikely to lead to job cuts.

The aim instead is to use it as a stepping-stone towards combining courier and postie jobs into one agent who delivers all mail and parcels.
