Future of search to be decided soon

16:55 pm on 30 March 2014

Officials involved in the search for a missing pilot and his light plane will make a decision very soon whether or not to call off the search.

The home-built aerobatic bi-plane disappeared on Tuesday morning after taking off from Ardmore Airport southeast of Auckland.

There's been no sign of the plane or the 53-year-old pilot since.

The Rescue Co-ordination Centre has spent Sunday going through a comprehensive review of the search so far.

It says it will make a decision within a day or two as to whether the search will continue.
