Wellington train services back to full operation

Wellington Station is finally clear after thousands of commuters had their journey disrupted by cancelled train services.

High temperatures caused trains to be cancelled on the Johnsonville and Hutt Valley lines this afternoon.

It also lead to delays on the Wairarapa line and Kapiti lines.

About 8500 people were affected by the outages.

Kiwirail said as the temperature drops, it expects services to return to normal, in time for tomorrow morning's peak.
