An Auckland dentist who has been subject to multiple investigations has been found to have severely breached a patient's rights.
The Health and Disability Commissioner has not named the dentist, but says he is associated with Total Health Dentistry in Ponsonby.
The managing director of Total Health Dentistry is Dr Jacob Goldenberg.
Yesterday, a decision from Deputy Health and Disability Commissioner Dr Vanessa Caldwell found that in 2016 the dentist oversaw the fitting of a denture that caused pain and would fall when the patient was chewing.
He then declined to look at it for more than a year.
The commissioner has found he neither treated the patient with respect, nor provided services with reasonable care and skill.
Another breach was advising her to use household bleach in her water flosser.
The commissioner's lawyer will now decide whether to bring the dentist before a disciplinary tribunal.
In March, the Dental Council separately suspended Goldenberg's practising certificate.
The Dental Council said it was suspended "while allegations about his conduct are investigated by a Professional Conduct Committee".
However RNZ reported this month that patients had still been receiving treatment from him.
One of Caldwell's recommendations was that the dentist comply with all restrictions imposed by the Dental Council.
