A charity set up by Fiji Water has announced it's distributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to assist 16 groups in Fiji.

The US-owned company bottles and sells Fiji water around the world and is one of Fiji's leading exporters.

Its Fiji Water Foundation has made grants worth more than 260,000 US dollars.

It says the money is going to diverse projects around Fiji, including the provision of free heart surgery, the building of kindergarten playgrounds, the training suicide prevention counsellors and the installation of clean water filters in Fiji homes.
