Samoa's former finance minister appointed new role

Samoa's former minister of finance, Faumuina Tiatia Liuga, has been appointed by the Prime Minister to be the new Associate Minister for Natural Resources and Environment.

Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi says Faumuina will be of great assistance to the Environment Minister because he has experience and knowledge as a former minister of the same ministry.

Faumuina stepped down as a cabinet minister last month after pressure from the ruling party caucus as a result of a Chief Auditor's report alleging misuse of power and corruption.
