The police dive squad are searching for a man who fell from his boat off the coast of Raglan on Wednesday.
The man was fishing alone when he made a call over Maritime Radio about 10am to say he was having a medical event.
He activated his emergency locator beacon a short time later.
Raglan Coast Gallagher Rescue Coastguard volunteers and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter went to the boat but found it empty and anchored about 8 nautical miles off the coast of Raglan.
Police Eagle Helicopter and Coast Guard Air Patrol joined the search but the man was unable to be located on Wednesday.
Anyone who saw the man fishing or with information that could help to find him was asked to contact police.
