A Bosnian war film In the Land of Blood and Honey by Angelina Jolie has been screened in Sarajevo. Most of the audience were Bosnian Muslims.

The BBC reports the film received a mixed reaction from cinema-goers on Thursday, with some saying it was a realistic depiction of events.

Others in the audience said they were too emotional to watch as it reminded them of the horrors of the conflict.

In the Land of Blood and Honey tells a love story between a Muslim woman and a Serb man in Bosnia in 1992-95.

More than 100,000 people were killed during the conflict between 1992-95.

Most of the film was shot in Hungary after Jolie lost her permit to film in the country for not submitting a screenplay to the government.

The film officially opens in cinemas in Bosnia and the wider region in February 2012.

It has been nominated for a Golden Globe for best foreign-language film. It is also to be given the 2012 Stanley Kramer Award by the Producers Guild of America in January.
