RNZ has moved its primary domain for the RNZ website to rnz.co.nz.
The changes mean that when you access news and alerts from radionz.co.nz, the website will redirect you to the same content on rnz.co.nz.
Users will continue to be able to access content via either domain, and any bookmarks should still continue to work.
The change makes our main domain consistent with the rest of our RNZ brand.
We have thoroughly tested this and we expect it won't break the internet, but anything's possible. Please bear with us and get in touch via webmaster@rnz.co.nz if things go awry.
RNZ is New Zealand's public service broadcaster. Our website, app and broadcasting is provided 100 percent free - with no adverts - and always will be.
Frequently asked questions and answers:
Help! I typed radionz.co.nz and I was taken to rnz.co.nz! Have you been hacked?
rnz.co.nz is now our primary domain, so our website is automatically taking you to the new address. We haven't been hacked, it's a purposeful change we've made for everyone who uses the website.
Why has this been done?
The change makes our main domain consistent with the rest of our RNZ brand.
Will my bookmarks still work?
If you've bookmarked URLs with "radionz.co.nz" they'll still work, but they will redirect you to the rnz.co.nz version of the same URL. You should be able to access all the same content under the new domain. You don't need to update your bookmarks unless you want to.
My playlists don't have anything in them now?
Unfortunately yes, you'll need to create your playlists again. These are saved with browser cookies against our domain; we've changed our primary domain and the cookies don't transfer over.
What if I notice something funny?
If you come across anything that looks really broken, please via get in touch via webmaster@rnz.co.nz and we'll take a look.
