Heavy rain is expected for the west of the South Island and lower North Island today and people are asked to stay up to date with the forecast.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Westland south of Otira, and also for the remainder of Westland, Buller, northwest Nelson and theTararua Range.
People are advised to stay up to date in case part of the watch is upgraded to a warning or further areas are added.
A heavy rain warning for Fiordland has now been lifted.
