10:17 am on 16 July 2007

The Samoa Broadcasting Corporation has been awarded the rights for live coverage of the World Cup in September.

SBC CEO Galumalemana Faiesea Matafeo told the Samoa Observer that FIJI TV had awarded SBC hosting rights after LAU TV failed to cover payments for its bid.

Galumalemana would not give the amount of its bid for the rights, but it is believed to be roughly around 70-thousand US dollars.

She added that FIJI TV awarded SBC the World Cup rights because they were having problems getting payments from LAU TV.

Samoa Broadcasting will show all 48 games.
