A man who fell from Rapaki Rock on the outskirts of Christchurch on Sunday morning has died.
The man, aged in his 70s, had been climbing near the top of Rapaki Track in the Port Hills.
He was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later from his injuries.
His death will be referred to the Coroner.
The prominent crag at the top of the Rapaki walking track is popular with climbers. It is located in the Port Hills above Christchurch near the Sign of the Kiwi.
